Montmorency: a 19th century thief and the joys of reading

On Friday night I arrived early(!) for class and, since I have the luxury of giving this particular lesson in the academy's "library" I picked up a book that was lying idly on about.

First thing that struck me was a positive comment by Stephen Fry. I only ever read one of his books but it was wildly entertaining. I turned to the back cover to read the blurb and there it was, beckoning me onwards:

"winner of the Nestle Smarties Award"

How could I say no to a book awarded a prize from Smarties, the candy that was my drug a couple of decades ago?

Joking apart, the story itself was quite good and the book entertaining. A very good description was an award it received, entitled "Book I Couldn-t Put Down." True true. At breakfast on Sunday I picked up the last two pages and finished it off.

Just in case you-re wondering, the book is "Montmorency" by Eleanor Updale.
